Overview
Security is foundational to DevPass. When developers trust us with their professional identity, we take that responsibility seriously. Our security practices are designed to protect your data at every layer — from the infrastructure up to the application.
This page describes our current security posture and the measures we have in place. We are committed to continuously improving our practices as DevPass grows.
Infrastructure Security
DevPass is built on modern, SOC 2 compliant cloud infrastructure. Our infrastructure security includes:
- Network isolation: Production systems run in isolated VPCs with strict firewall rules and network segmentation.
- Automated patching: Operating systems and dependencies are patched automatically to address known vulnerabilities.
- Vulnerability scanning: Continuous scanning of dependencies and container images for known CVEs.
- DDoS protection: Global CDN with built-in DDoS mitigation and rate limiting.
- Redundancy: Multi-region deployment with automatic failover for high availability.
Data Protection
We implement multiple layers of data protection:
- Encryption at rest: All user data is encrypted with AES-256, including databases, file storage, and backups.
- Encryption in transit: TLS 1.3 for all client-server communication. Internal service communication is also encrypted.
- Data minimization: We collect only the data necessary to provide our services. No unnecessary data retention.
- Isolation: User data is logically separated. We do not share data between accounts or organizations without explicit consent.
Access Controls
Access to production systems and user data is tightly controlled:
- Principle of least privilege: Team members have access only to the systems required for their role.
- Role-based access control (RBAC): Granular permissions enforced at the application and infrastructure level.
- Multi-factor authentication (MFA): Required for all internal tools and production access.
- Audit logging: Every action in production is logged with user identity, timestamp, and action details.
Authentication
We implement secure authentication practices:
- OAuth 2.0: Third-party integrations (GitHub, LinkedIn) use OAuth 2.0 for secure, limited-scope access.
- Session management: Secure session tokens with automatic expiration and refresh.
- CSRF protection: Cross-site request forgery tokens on all state-changing requests.
- Rate limiting: Login attempts and API requests are rate-limited to prevent brute-force attacks.
Monitoring & Logging
We maintain comprehensive monitoring across the platform:
- Application monitoring: Real-time alerts for errors, performance degradation, and anomalous behavior.
- Security event logging: Login attempts, permission changes, and data access events are logged and monitored.
- Infrastructure monitoring: CPU, memory, disk, and network metrics tracked with automated alerting.
- Incident detection: Automated systems detect and alert on potential security incidents 24/7.
Compliance
Our compliance roadmap includes:
- SOC 2 Type II: Targeted for completion in 2026. Controls are currently being implemented and documented.
- GDPR: We comply with GDPR requirements for users in the European Economic Area. See our GDPR Compliance page.
- CCPA: We comply with CCPA requirements for California residents. See our CCPA Compliance page.
- Data Processing Agreements: Available for enterprise customers upon request.
Incident Response
We maintain a documented incident response plan that covers:
- Detection: Automated monitoring detects potential incidents.
- Assessment: Immediate triage to determine severity and scope.
- Containment: Steps to limit impact and prevent further damage.
- Remediation: Fixing the root cause and restoring normal operations.
- Notification: Affected users are notified within 72 hours of confirmed data breaches, in compliance with applicable law.
- Post-mortem: Every incident is followed by a blameless post-mortem to prevent recurrence.
Reporting Vulnerabilities
We welcome security researchers who want to help us improve. If you discover a vulnerability in DevPass, please follow our Responsible Disclosure policy.
We commit to:
- Acknowledging reports within 48 hours.
- Providing a resolution timeline within 7 business days.
- Crediting reporters (with permission) in our security acknowledgments.
