Many developers believe they need to solve hundreds of LeetCode problems to pass technical interviews. But the most effective approach is targeted practice focused on understanding patterns rather than memorizing solutions. With the right strategy, you can be well-prepared with 50-100 carefully chosen problems.

Pattern-based learning

Focus on the 15-20 most common problem patterns: sliding window, two pointers, BFS/DFS, binary search, dynamic programming, backtracking, merge intervals, top K elements, union find, and topological sort. For each pattern, understand the underlying concept and practice 3-5 representative problems.

Efficient practice techniques

Set a time limit (30-45 minutes per problem). If you're stuck, look at the solution, understand it, and re-implement it from memory the next day. Keep a log of patterns you've learned and review them weekly. Focus on understanding why a solution works, not just how to implement it.
